Hi, I’m Matthew! I grew up in Los Angeles, I’m Italian-American, and I’m openly gay, which all serve as cultural references to me. I studied Psychology and Italian Literature at Notre Dame, where I worked with the Student Government’s Gender Relations Center on LGBTQ+, Title IX and women’s initiatives. I then spent a term in Bologna eating very well and learning to argue in Italian, before moving to London for an MA in Fashion Communications

These days my weeks are a mix of things that don’t obviously go together. I’ve worked in a press office, been backstage at London Fashion Week, helped a brand-new runway event find its audience, and run front of house at a Clapham restaurant, where I’ve learned that the secret to a good evening is paying attention. Before all that, I styled shoots and ended up as fashion director of my university’s magazine.

I care about brands and stories that make people feel seen, which is why my research looked at how authentic gender-inclusive marketing shapes what people trust and buy. Whether it’s a runway, a campaign or a dinner service, I like building the moments where everyone feels like they belong in the room.
